The water is warm but not as crystal clear as I was expecting. The beach is man-made and can be quite rough so take beach shoes, it gets sandier as you get further into the sea. Snorkelling in the mangroves was an experience, the water is quite murky but if you look hard enough you will see fish.
They are a must do while you are there, on both trips the food is absolutely amazing, special mention to Kevin on the catamaran trip (ask for one of his jungle juices!). The highlights of our trip included the bbq on grand-zil - we felt like we were on our own deserted island! - and the catamaran trip. The lunch buffet on the beach was always good there is also food from the snack bar and pancakes in the afternoon, There really is something for everyone. The buffet had plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner, some of the best curries I have ever tasted. We ate at Lor Disab twice during our stay (once for our honeymoon meal but more on that later) and the food was gorgeous and well presented. The Chinese and Mauritian were fantastic too. We managed to get booked into all of the restaurants, our favourite being Tadka the indian one. The food exceeded all of our expectations, we didn’t have a bad meal once. The staff are all very friendly and work extremely hard, management should be proud. Check-in was quick and we were given a lovely refreshing towel and a glass of bubbly whilst our cases were taken to our room. It included two sun loungers on our outdoor area meaning we didn’t even have to leave our room! The rustic style did not put us off, we knew what we were expecting, and it made our accommodation feel more authentic. We stayed in a couple deluxe beachfront room (3107) which was spacious, clean and just steps away from the sea. We have just returned from an amazing 10 days at the Zilwa for our honeymoon.
